Towards Zero 12 Year Strategy

Project Scope
The Road Safety Council’s Toward Zero 12 Year Strategy was developed over four distinct stages over a two year period. Impact Communications coordinated the strategy process, including a state-wide community engagement program, and managed the design and implementation of the Towards Zero branding across all collateral.
Our Action
In partnership with the Office of Road Safety, Impact Communications developed a detailed plan which facilitated the Road Safety Council’s consultation with over 4000 stakeholders across the state in two phases. Consultation consisted of a series of leader, stakeholder and advocacy group forums, Internet surveys, community engagement forums, regional coordination groups and parliamentary reference groups.
Impact provided specialist advice and managed the numerous metropolitan and regional forums and events. Impact liaised with facilitators and local members of parliament and also acted as an information conduit for communications external to the Office of Road Safety. Impact also coordinated all transport and accommodation logistics for the Road Safety Council project team.
Following the completion of the strategy development process, Impact worked with the Road Safety Council to facilitate the overall design and production of the draft strategy document that was presented to Government. The “Towards Zero” design was adopted and applied to all of the Strategy collateral material.

The Towards Zero graphics were deemed to be user friendly and versatile and were well received by stakeholders and the public alike.
The Towards Zero draft strategy was accepted by the Minister responsible for road safety and presented to Government. The Strategy successfully received Government endorsement and was launched and implemented in 2009.
